God is the best realtor!!!

So Christie and I went to find a place to live in Nashville. We only had Thursday-Saturday to find a place, and lock it down. No pressure! Just find a place where you and your family can be happy, has a good school system, is close to where your wife works, and do that all in 3 days! Thank God for Christie who did a lot of of research and searching on the internet, and made appointments for us to visit all these places. THANKS LOVE!!

So we found a place that was a little further out than we would have liked. But it was AWESOME!!! Really, really beautiful and for less than we are paying for our place up here. So the next day, I awoke and prayed to God, "please show us exactly where we should live. Help us keep our minds open for whatever possibility you may have for us." I have to admit, I believed we were going to lock down this amazing house we saw the day before.

So we went to see a few other places and there was nothing we liked more than that awesome house we saw the day before. We made the decision to rent it! I was so excited! We both were really happy. The only thing Christie wasn't excited about was the commute, but she thought what we could get out there was worth the drive. The kids would be better off out there and she resigned herself to a 40 minute commute at rush hour time.

Then the phone rang. It was a new friend of Christie's from the new hospital she will be working at. She had a thought. Did Christie talk to her Dr. friend who was selling his house? Christie said she hadn't because we were no longer buying, plus this house was way out of our league and price range. Christie's friend encouraged her to call anyway.

The result is that we are now renting an amazing house that we could never afford but have been given a great deal by this very generous man. We are also, in full rush hour traffic, only ten minutes from the hospital. IS GOD AMAZING OR WHAT?? 10 minutes away from signing this lease, and then we are given this amazing gift in such a strange manner that only makes sense when you add God into it. I am amazed when people don't believe in God. So enough of my yapping, check out the pics of the house! After the pics is a video tour by yours truly so you can get a real feel for the place. Enjoy!!!

So let's back up a little bit!!

Though this seems like it has come out of the blue, the planning on how we would leave Boston has been taking shape for many months.  We put our house on the market a full week AHEAD of finding out we were going to Nashville.  We were that confident that God had planned our move!  But before we could put it in on the market, we had to get it ready!

Here Caeley shows off her beautiful pink room!  It was wonderful for her while we were here, but pink rooms don't help sell a house, SO............................

It was time to say good bye to the pink and hello to the yellow!  While the kids were being watched down in CT, we painted Caeley's girlie haven into a very neutral yellow!

And once we started, we got so amped up, we just couldn't stop!

So we proceeded to paint the rest of the house again as well!

After painting the house and cleaning it thoroughly, the hard part is to keep it clean, especially with two little kids.  However, Caeley is at that magical age where cleaning is fun!! So we gladly oblige her when she wants to help!

THANKS CALES!!  YOU ARE SUCH A HARD WORKER!!!

Next up??  A trip to our new hometown to find a place to live by the end of the week!  Stay Tuned!!!!

Our Baptism...

So our first post has nothing to do with moving, but it was something important to our family!  On Easter Sunday Christie and I were baptized!

Here is the actual ceremony

And a pic of the family after the event!

For all our loved ones who couldn't be there, we missed you and hope you enjoy this snapshot of the day!

HERE WE GO!!!

March 19th 2009, a day that seemed would never come.  March 19th for all med students across the country is known as "Match Day".  On this day, all med students across the country find out where they are going for their residency years.  It is not like college where you get accepted by many places and you pick which place you want to go.  On this day you are given an envelope, and in that envelope is the name of the place you will be for the next few years of your life.  Christie picked Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville as her number one pick, and she got it!  So now it begins,  in the next 2 months we have to uproot from our hometown of Boston, find a place to live, sell our house, physically move us and and our two kids.  We switch our roles as parents, as Christie starts her 3 year residency in Emergency medicine, and I return to being a stay at home dad.  We adjust to a major cultural change as we all live in the south for the first time in our lives.  We leave family and friends to go to a place we know very few people.  But we are SO EXCITED!!!  We have no doubt that God has led us to our soon to be new hometown.  With all these changes, excitement and challenges, we thought this chapter of our lives would make great subject matter for a blog.  This is also a great way to keep in touch with all the peeps up north.  So welcome!  Buckle up!  It's going to be an amazing ride!!
